Deeply connecting, what does that mean to you?
An intimate relationship with another person, in which you feel understood and valued by each other. A joint purpose, which makes you want to work closely together with a trusted colleague. When you truly connect with another person, from the heart, in the moment. A sense of connectedness with nature. …?
I found a quote, online, from Brené Brown, which says it all for me: ‘Connection is everything; it’s how we are with ourselves, how we feel within our bodies, it’s how we engage with those around us and how we interact with our environment, it’s the most fundamental part of living a fulfilling life. It’s emotional, physical, social, energetic and intellectual. It’s layered and the beauty of it is; it connects everything!’
In my whole life, I’ve felt a deep longing to contribute to the world, to change what was not working. I could access my inner world and work with my talents, following my intuition, without being aware of the what and how. I learned about myself by the trial and error of experience, but I couldn’t communicate from it.
In my burnout in 2014, the walls around me fell away. It was an instant consciousness enlargement. The ‘fire’ loosened the connections in my brain. My body played new music, I felt new sensations, constantly. It meant, that I had to get to know my body again, and work with that to build myself up again.
Since then, I have brought everything from my heart, spirit, mind and body into consciousness. Using (and enjoying) South-Korean drama series I practiced to find the right words, emotions and gestures to express myself. I developed lifemaps to support me, in all areas of life.
Deeply connecting with myself, was the nourishment I needed, to deepen my connections with others and the world. Years later, it still feels wonderful to be able to communicate in the moment, from heart, mind and soul, from who I am.
